#6 SmackDown Tag Team Championships: The New Day (c.) vs. The Miz & John Morrison

The New Day has never defeated The Miz and John Morrison in a tag team match.

The New Day redeemed themselves from a title loss they suffered to The Miz & John Morrison at Super ShowDown earlier this year when Big E pinned The Miz in a triple threat match also involving Jey Uso on SmackDown to win him and Kofi Kingston to the SmackDown Tag Team Titles for the eighth team.

The two retained the titles at Money in the Bank in a fatal four-way match, also involving Lucha House Party, The Miz & John Morrison, and The Forgotten Sons, by pinning the Lucha House Party. They will likely resolve their rivalry with the former champions at Backlash. The only other teams available are Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode, Heavy Machinery, Lucha House Party, and The Forgotten Sons.

Robert Roode hasn't been seen in weeks, so they will likely not be their next challengers. Otis appears to be in the middle of a singles run as Mr. Money in the Bank, so Heavy Machinery is also out of the picture.

The Lucha House Party was pinned in the match at Money in the Bank, so they will likely not be the next challengers while the Forgotten Sons were only just called up to the main roster, so it is much too soon for them to challenge for the titles. The only options are The Miz and John Morrison.
