![The background between Samoa Joe and Roman Reigns is pretty absurd](https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2018/05/6ab9f-1525466109-800.jpg?w=190 190w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2018/05/6ab9f-1525466109-800.jpg?w=720 720w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2018/05/6ab9f-1525466109-800.jpg?w=640 640w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2018/05/6ab9f-1525466109-800.jpg?w=1045 1045w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2018/05/6ab9f-1525466109-800.jpg?w=1200 1200w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2018/05/6ab9f-1525466109-800.jpg?w=1460 1460w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2018/05/6ab9f-1525466109-800.jpg?w=1600 1600w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2018/05/6ab9f-1525466109-800.jpg 1920w)
Backlash is meant to settle Wrestlemania disputes and not create inter-branded feuds. There may be only two matches of such kind but it can play a vital role in making the show a failure.

We know that Miz and Samoa Joe are going to lose to put over the babyfaces. Moreover, these matches won't have any further implications on their Smackdown journey.
These matches are as meaningless as an imprint on a worn out coin. However, WWE has made gems out of it in the past. 'AJ Styles vs. Finn Balor' and 'Charlotte vs. Asuka' are some recent examples of it.
Will these matches transform into gems or remain as incoherent imprints? Come Sunday, and we will find the answer.
