It should have been Bobby Lashley vs Brock Lesnar heading into this year's WWE Survivor Series event
#1. Brock Lesnar vs WWE Champion Bobby Lashley is less predictable

Brock Lesnar is seemingly set to face Roman Reigns at either Crown Jewel in October or WWE's Survivor Series pay-per-view in November.
Just five months later, WWE is planning to have Roman Reigns vs The Rock at WrestleMania in one of the biggest matches the company has ever seen.
It's unlikely that Brock Lesnar will be taking that Universal Championship away from The Tribal Chief as part of their feud. This makes it hard for the WWE Universe to become in a feud that's one-sided from the start.

If Lesnar had made his return on RAW and was set to face Bobby Lashley, there is no leaked plan for The Almighty at WrestleMania next year, which means that he could take the WWE Championship if the script calls for it.
Lashley's story as Champion at present isn't as predictable as Roman's and even though Reigns is the biggest star in the company at present, it's hard to get behind a story when the outcome is predictable.
