#2 Elevate the Intercontinental Championship
After John Cena's United States Championship open challenge received a positive response from the fans, the writers made it a tradition for the face Superstars holding mid-card championships to put their title on the line every week. Not only did this move add more value to the TV episodes but it also added a sense of unpredictability to the regular scheme of things.
For example, Dolph Ziggler's win over Seth Rollins last year sent shock waves in the WWE Universe as The Showoff won the Intercontinental Championship out of nowhere. It is hard to imagine a heel Superstar issuing an open challenge and with both the mid-card champions being heels, it would be great if The Miz wins the Intercontinental title from Nakamura.
The Miz has had stellar feuds as a heel Intercontinental Championship in the past so, he could either have one-on-one rivalries with upcoming talents or keep his title on the line every week in by issuing an open challenge.
These changes will help in elevating the Intercontinental Championship which has been largely ignored of late.
Have a look at this 'Match of the Year' candidate featuring Kevin Owens and the then Intercontinental Champion, Seth Rollins which happened on a RAW episode.
This ignorance has been one of the major reasons behind Nakamura's fall but, WWE have a chance to resurrect it by giving The Miz the championship and insert Nakamura in a rocking feud with him.
