AJ Styles was forced to defend his United States Championship against Cedric Alexander last night at Clash of Champions, but it was only revealed a few minutes ahead of their match that the two stars would do battle on the pre-show.

Styles is a former WWE Champion and this feud has been one of the main pulls on Monday Night Raw over the past few weeks, but WWE made the decision to chose to push AJ's title defense onto the pre-show alongside the Cruiserweight Championship match where Drew Gulak also managed to retain his title.

It was a fantastic match that saw Styles not only retain but later call on his O.C. teammates, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson to come and beat down Alexander following his loss. It's obvious that this is building towards something between The O.C. and the likes of Alexander and Ricochet but the faces will need a third man and now there are just three episodes of Raw to add to what could be an interesting six-man showdown at Hell in a Cell on October 6th.
