WWE: CM Punk expected to face Curtis Axel for the IC title in upcoming RAW

As noted earlier, CM Punk is scheduled to face Intercontinental Champion Curtis Axel in a match next week on WWE RAW. There are rumours doing rounds that the Intercontinental Title may be on the line for this match.

Punk has been away from the title picture for quite some time now following a long feud with Paul Heyman and his client Brock Lesnar. Punk was subject to attacks from Lesnar on a continuous basis on RAW and lost to the latter in a high profile SummerSlam match.

With Lesnar’s PPV contract set to expire, the WWE will look to promote Curtis Axel as a legitimate threat to CM Punk. Punk has a lot of vengeance against ‘former friend’ Paul Heyman and will look to settle the score with the latter.
