#1 To become number 1 contender
As things currently stand, the WWE's first ever World Cup tournament has absolutely no stakes whatsoever.
Similar to the titular match at The Greatest Royal Rumble Event, The World Cup looks as though it exists purely to get as many big names on the card as possible and keep the Saudi audience interested.
The WWE could take note from the recent battle royal match at Evolution, though, and put a future title shot on the line in the tournament.
This adds legitimate stakes to the match and also helps set up the main event for one of their upcoming PPVs.
If the WWE does decide to go down this route, then having The Miz win the trophy, setting up a future title match with either AJ Styles or Daniel Bryan, makes a lot of sense.
The Miz's feud with Daniel Bryan is rumoured to come to an end at WrestleMania, with the two men battling it out over the WWE title. If that is the case, then The Miz should be the one to walk into the event with the gold, and the World Cup presents the WWE with the perfect opportunity to set those wheels in motion.
Having The Miz go on to win the World Cup and then win the WWE title at either Survivor Series or TLC will establish him as SmackDown's top heel, and will set the blue-brand on the road to WrestleMania 35.
