#2 Mae Young Classic Finals: Toni Storm vs. lo Shirai

These two ladies should have a barnburner.
These two ladies should have a barnburner.

Storm made the semifinals in last year's tournament while Shirai was also supposed to compete. An injury forced WWE to pull their initial contract offer to Shirai. They signed her shortly thereafter once she was deemed 100% healthy.

When the names/brackets for this iteration of the tournament were revealed, you knew that these two would at very worst, make it to the semis. Now meeting in the finals, anything is possible.

The two have met before albeit in the Japanese Stardom promotion and are capable of having amazing matches with anyone.

Shirai has acted the cocky, overconfident face a la Asuka when she reigned as NXT Women's Champion for over a year.

Expect Storm to be the de facto face in the match, but the crowd will heavily cheer both ladies. If they don't initially, they will before the ending of it.

What we'll be seeing are two of the future cornerstones of WWE Women's divisions (hopefully) and also a heck of a match.

Storm should be more than just a big face in the UK division. Shirai will hopefully be treated better than Asuka has on the main roster.

Don't have the bookers overthink this one. That's the only way this one could disappoint. Just let the ladies do their things and everyone will leave the match happy.
