Kevin Owens is all set to make his first WrestleMania appearance this year. Ever since his debut ten months ago, Kevin has made a huge impact in the WWE landscape and performing in WrestleMania is clearly going to be a major step in his career.
Sportskeeda's Renjith Ravindran managed to get in touch with Kevin Owens recently where Kevin answered our questions about India, the internet fan community, his relationship with Vince McMahon and Triple H and much more.
A WrestleMania that he would love to be part of:
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
It would probably be WrestleMania 12 because it was the first WrestleMania that I watched live. I still remember it like yesterday so that would be the one.
About his opponent for WrestleMania 32
I would've loved to get the Undertaker. At this point I just want to be part of WrestleMania. Anyone who wants to get in the ring with me and challenge for my title, I would be happy to oblige.
I've been waiting for WrestleMania for 20 years and I want to make it count. I want to walk out as the winner and still Intercontinental Champion. That's what matters. Anyone who wants to try is more than welcome.
The likelihood of headlining WrestleMania
I don't know. Maybe it could happen next year. I've already reached a level in WWE over the past 10 months that most of the wrestlers don’t reach or take years to reach. I feel like anything could really happen and by next year, I could be in the main event.
His relationship with Vince McMahon and Triple H
I talk to Vince McMahon as much as I can. He is probably the busiest man I know along with Triple H, who is also incredibly busy. Vince, if he has any time on Raw, SmackDown, or any pay-per-view, is thinking of a million things about running the show basically so there is not a whole lot of time to talk to him but he is open to a talk before the show and I've had some discussions with him.
I have a good relationship with him and I’m still getting to know him as I've only been here for around 10 months. I have a huge amount of respect for him and I feel like we are still building a relationship.
Me and Triple H are closer thanks to my stint at NXT and it was Triple H that ultimately made the call to hire me and offered me a WWE contract. It is something that I will always be grateful for.
I got to work a lot more closer with Triple H because of NXT and I know him more on a personal level than Vince and we talk about our kids and all. Both are different in a way but they both have the same goal that is to make WWE as entertaining as possible.
My favourite thing on Raw is when I go and sit in the guerrilla position where Triple H and Vince McMahon work as well as Road Dogg, Billy Kidman and all these people that make the show work and I just observe how all these people do things. It's fascinating.
His views on the Internet fan community
Internet fans are part of the business now. Everyone has the internet now and everybody is an internet fan in some way. The internet has probably changed the wrestling industry as a whole and some people say it is for the worse while some people say that it's for the better. It is the reality now and I don’t have a feeling; either way, it is what it is.
Starting his career with a feud against John Cena
Starting at such a level and having matches with a guy that has been the face of the company for a decade was always good. I learned from him and I enjoyed the matches and I look forward to doing it again.
Plans after his wrestling career
I'm going to spend as much as time I can with my family. I don’t have any plans beyond that and hopefully, I would be in a position where I don't have to work anymore and will be able to enjoy my life with my wife and my kids without having to move around much. The dream is just to have a successful career, go home and just stay home.
About the experience of his fellow wrestlers in India
I heard that everybody had a great time out there and hopefully we would be going back soon and I'll get to be part of the tour, this time around.
Message for the fans in India
WrestleMania is always the biggest show of the year and this one is shaping up to be one of the best ones yet. So you don't want to miss it, make sure you catch it on the WWE Network no matter where you are.
Kevin answered a few questions from the other journalists as well where he pointed out that he would love to have a brand split in WWE as it would shake things up. Also, Kevin mentioned that he gets along with Stardust in the locker room and that he hates the word 'gimmick'.
