WWE will bring us their next PPV, Extreme Rules, live this Sunday from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Ten matches have been announced for the event so far, out of which seven are title matches, and we can expect two more to get added to the card.
The following are the championship matches which will take place this Sunday at Extreme Rules.
1. Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch (C) vs. Baron Corbin and Lacey Evans - Last chance winner takes all match for the Universal and Raw Women's Championships
2. Kofi Kingston (C) vs. Samoa Joe - Singles match for the WWE Championship
3. Ricochet (C) vs. AJ Styles - Singles match for the United States Championship
4. Bayley (C) vs. Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross - Handicap match for the SmackDown Women's Championship
5. The Revival (C) vs. The Usos - Tag team match for the Raw Tag Team Championships
6. Daniel Bryan and Rowan (C) vs. The New Day vs. Heavy Machinery - Triple Threat tag team match for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships
7. Drew Gulak (C) vs. Tony Nese - Singles match for the Cruiserweight Championship
a. Expected to be added to the card:
8. Finn Balor (C) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura - Singles match for the Intercontinental Championship
9. The IIconics (C) vs. The Kabuki Warriors - Tag team match for the Women's Tag Team Championships
As we can see, WWE has put up a stacked card for Sunday's event. It's not sure if WWE will add the Intercontinental and Women's Tag title matches to the line-up, but if they do so every main roster titles apart from the 24/7 Championship will be on the line.
With SummerSlam set to take place next month, WWE will look to shake things up by having some titles change hands this Sunday at Extreme Rules. Let's take a look at five titles which are most likely to change hands at the event.
#5 Raw Tag Team Championship
The Revival will defend their Raw Tag Team Championship against The Usos this Sunday at Extreme Rules. Jimmy and Jey have been feuding with the Revival for the past few months, with both teams trading victories over each other.
Dawson and Wilder won the Raw Tag Team Championship from Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder on the Raw after Super ShowDown in a triple threat tag team match which also involved the Usos. The two teams will reignite their feud at Extreme Rules when they clash for the titles.
The reason behind predicting the Usos winning the titles is they could be in line for a feud against the Club. Gallows and Anderson have signed a big 5-year contract after WWE promised a big push alongside AJ Styles.
We cannot expect Gallows and Anderson to start a feud with the Revival since both teams are heels at the moment. However, the Club can go after the Usos if they manage to win the titles this Sunday. WWE will not put AJ Styles in a less significant spot on the show, and now that WWE paired him with his old teammates, Gallows and Anderson could be on the way to become champions once again.
#4 SmackDown Tag Team Championship
Daniel Bryan and Rowan won the SmackDown Tag Team Championship on the May 7, 2019 episode of SmackDown Live. Their title run has been pretty dry so far, as WWE has not done anything significant with the team to make their reign memorable.
They will put their titles on the line in a triple threat tag team match against the New Day and Heavy Machinery at Extreme Rules. Otis and Tucker are the favorites to come out victorious this Sunday and the New Day could be in the match only to draw some attention from the fans.
Vince McMahon is reportedly very high on Otis and has been giving some significant TV time for the team since their main roster debut. That makes Otis and Tucker the favorites to dethrone Bryan and Rowan and win the SmackDown Tag Team Championship at Extreme Rules.
#3 SmackDown Women's Championship
After Bliss failed to capture the title from Bayley at Stomping Grounds, Nikki Cross earned her another opportunity when she defeated Bayley on the June 25, 2019 episode of SmackDown Live.
Nikki Cross won a Beat the Clock Challenge on this week's Raw to pick the stipulation for the SmackDown Women's title match at Extreme Rules and announced that it would be a handicap match. She also announced that she & Bliss would be Co-Champions when they beat Bayley for the title.
The core of this entire feud is to establish Nikki Cross as a legitimate player in the WWE's women's division. WWE could play it out further before Cross snaps out of her confusion and realize that she's being used. The best way to take this feud further will be by having Cross hit her finisher on Bayley and Bliss tagging herself in to steal the win.
#2 United States Championship
WWE was teasing an AJ Styles heel turn from his feud with Seth Rollins over the Universal Championship. It started to materialize with Styles confronting Gallows & Anderson over their failures, hinting at a potential Club reunion.
Styles took on Ricochet for the United States Championship on the June 24, 2019 episode of Raw after beating him in a non-title match a week ago. Ricochet picked up the win this time after rolling Styles up for the pin. After the match, Styles attacked Ricochet with help from Gallows & Anderson, turning heel in the process for the second time in his WWE career.
Styles will now get another opportunity at the title at Extreme Rules. Since it has been only two weeks since he turned heel, it is unlikely he'll lose to Ricochet once again. So we can expect Styles to pick up his third United States title with help from his brothers Gallows & Anderson.
#1 WWE Championship
WWE has done everything possible with Kofi Kingston as the champion. They made sure he looked strong and even gave him a 21-match undefeated streak until Samoa Joe ended it on last week's SmackDown Live.
Kingston has defended the title against the likes of Daniel Bryan, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, AJ Styles, Dolph Ziggler, and even the Universal Champion Seth Rollins. His title reign is slowly reaching its ending point, and WWE should end it while it's still significant.
Kofi Kingston is currently dealing with an injury he sustained during a match against Dolph Ziggler at a WWE Live Event in Binghamton, New York. WWE can use it to their advantage and have Kingston drop the title to Joe at Extreme Rules and blame the loss on the injury.
It will make Kingston look strong even in defeat and will also give Samoa Joe a well-deserved run with the WWE Championship.
