#5 - No Contest. What's next?
Our final finish or scenario could lead to other implications that could setup for a great contest at WrestleMania 35, in general. The idea is for the match between The Usos and Shane McMahon and The Miz to end in a no contest. Now, I know what you're thinking. Big deal. No contest? The champs would retain in the event of a no contest or a draw, right?
Well, here's when things could get interesting.
Let's just play off the fact that at Fastlane, the match between these two teams ends in a no contest or a draw. We use the scenario where both teams would get into such a heated brawl the referee would have no choice but to throw the contest out completely as a result of a double DQ finish. On paper, yes, for a pay-per-view event that finish sucks. We get it! However, this is about the big picture and the big picture is this, ladies and gentlemen.
I believe that after the many great matches these two teams have had, they deserve to have one final blow-off match for WrestleMania to conclude the feud, crown the definitive SmackDown Live Tag Team Champions and send the winning team riding off into the sunset.
One of the best matches in WrestleMania history was a 60-minute Ironman Match between "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Micheals and Bret "Hitman" Hart from WrestleMania XII. What does this match have to do with anything? Allow me to elaborate and get right down to the point.
What if, we were to hold a 30-minute Tag Team Ironman Match between The Usos, Shane McMahon and The Miz to crown who is once and for all the Undisputed SmackDown Live Tag Team Champions? Let these two teams duke it out for 30 minutes. Let the match get down the wire. Either with no falls or we have an evenly exchanged match where both teams are tying it up as we get closer and closer to the conclusion. Let's end the match with an even score, but with Vince McMahon coming out to pull a "Gorilla Monsoon" moment from WrestleMania XII to restart the match under sudden death rules, where we must have a definitive winner. From this point, we have either team getting the victory and celebrating in what would be (on paper) an underrated match, but a match that exceeded all expectations, wow'd the audience and will stand out as one of the greatest WrestleMania matches of all-time for many years to come!
