Ever since he returned to the WWE in 2016, Shane McMahon has had a match at the Grandest Stage of them all.
In the first year, it was a huge Hell in a Cell match against The Undertaker. In 2017, it was a huge match against AJ Styles at WrestleMania 33. This continued to be a trend, as at WrestleMania 34, he teamed up with the returning Daniel Bryan to take on Sami Zayn and Kofi Kingston.

He has always been at the forefront of WrestleMania since returning, and the chance of not featuring this time proved to be too much. He had been hoping that winning the SmackDown Tag Team titles would allow him to compete on the show, but unfortunately, they lost the opportunity.
This was the final straw that broke the camel's back, and he did not stop himself from attacking Kofi Kingston to take out his rage on him.
