WWE's biggest show of the year, WrestleMania 35, is a little over a month and a half away, and the company will put into its final stop on the road to the event, Fastlane, mid-way through March.
With Elimination Chamber now in the rear-view mirror, the company's plans for WrestleMania have become a little clearer, and they will likely use Fastlane as a chance to tie up any loose ends and kickstart their plans for the big night.
While it's not been the exciting of starts to the year for WWE, there is still plenty of time to build a solid card for Mania, so with that in mind, let's take a look at what could go down at Fastlane to help that happen.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Samoa Joe Vs R-Truth (United States Championship)
There is absolutely no rhyme or reason for this match existing, other than the fact that the WWE really need to do something interesting with Samoa Joe.
Since losing several times to AJ Styles last year for the WWE Championship, Samoa Joe has slipped down the pecking order on SmackDown, and was fairly quickly eliminated at Elimination Chamber.
Making him into a dominant US Champion and having him defend the belt at WrestleMania could do wonders for his career on SmackDown and help elevate him back to the beast that we all know he is capable of being.
EC3 Vs Dean Ambrose
With Dean Ambrose set to leave the WWE in the coming months, there is every chance this match, which was originally rumored for WrestleMania 35, will now be pushed up the calendar to give Ambrose something slightly more substantial to do in what could be his final appearance for the company.
The two men began their feud a few weeks ago on Raw, and have exchanged victories over one another ever since. Chances are high that the WWE will want to continue this storyline for the next month, and use Ambrose to help put EC3 over as a future star on the Raw brand.
Finn Balor Vs Bobby Lashley (Intercontinental Championship)
Finn Balor's victory at Elimination Chamber was one of the feel-good moments of the night, and the WWE would be wise to allow Balor to walk into WrestleMania holding the title belt.
To establish himself as the rightful owner of the belt, however, Balor will need to actually beat the man who held it before him.
At Elimination Chamber, Balor picked up the victory against Lio Rush, meaning that Lashley himself was never involved in the decision. That angle provides the WWE with one of the easiest title match set-ups in recent memory, with Lashley being rightfully frustrated that he never lost his belt.
The Usos Vs The Miz and Shane McMahon (SmackDown Tag-Team Championship)
The Usos' victory at Elimination Chamber was one of the most surprising results of the night, largely because most fans expected the WWE to wait a little bit longer before showing cracks in the relationship between The Miz and Shane McMahon.
What is likely to happen now is the rift between the two men will grow over the coming weeks, with The Miz becoming increasingly frustrated with himself.
This will likely culminate at Fastlane, with The Miz losing it at Shane McMahon, costing their team the match and setting up a WrestleMania showdown between the two men in the process.
Sasha Banks and Bayley Vs Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville (Women's Tag Team Championship)
One of the most pleasant surprises of the night at Elimination Chamber was the exceptional performance put on by Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville. The team formerly known as Absolution put on an incredible performance, losing out right at the death to the team of Sasha Banks and Bayley.
With Sasha Banks and Bayley likely to take on the team of Trish Stratus and Lita at WrestleMania 35, the duo will need someone to help them look strong heading into that match and after Elimination Chamber, Rose and Deville are easily the best options.
It's also a win-win situation for Rose and Deville, who will be given a good opportunity to show the WWE Universe exactly what they are capable of between the ropes.
Braun Strowman and Kurt Angle Vs Drew McIntyre and Baron Corbin
There is every chance that this match could go down at WrestleMania, but the WWE would be smart to give fans McIntyre Vs Strowman on the company's grandest stage, and they could also even build towards one last big victory for Angle against Corbin.
The entire Raw upper mid-card scene is a bit unclear right now, but it does appear as if the WWE is heading towards some sort of multi-man match somewhere down the line, given what took place at the end of Corbin's match with Strowman at Elimination Chamber.
Whether fans want to see it or not, Corbin is going to be involved in some sort of match at Fastlane and Mania, and this is probably the best option right now.
Charlotte Flair Vs Becky Lynch
As things stand, Becky Lynch is currently out of the main-event match at this year's WrestleMania.
Of course, however, that is not going to be the case come April 8th, so the WWE needs to find a way to get Lynch back into that match.
Having Lynch and Flair have one last epic battle before Mania will not only build hype for their Mania match from an in-ring perspective but could also enhance things further if Ronda Rousey were to get involved.
Lynch and Flair have an incredible chemistry together in the ring, and this could prove to be Lynch's last hurdle before she finally gets her big Mania moment.
Daniel Bryan Vs Kofi Kingston (WWE Championship)
Kofi Kingston's meteoric rise to the top of the SmackDown face division over the last seven days leaves WWE with an interesting dilemma. The company could decide to change their plans (presuming they had some) and strap a rocket to his back and place him in the WWE title picture at WrestleMania, but it seems like it would be a bit of a risk given how quick this has all happened.
Instead, WWE can bide their time and give Kingston a shot at Fastlane. The New Day star has a ton of momentum right now, and if they do decide to insert him into the picture, they can book a screwy finish here to set that up.
If they decide against it, then Kingston still gets his moment in the spotlight and it will help further build Daniel Bryan up as the biggest heel in the WWE right now.
