Bryan hit the knee strike and the missile dropkick but Roman kicked out at Fastlane. Bryan hit the Yes kicks but Reigns countered after a few. The Universal Champion was caught in the Yes lock but broke the hold and hit a powerbomb for a near fall.

Reigns hit a spear but the referee was down after an accidental knee from Bryan. Edge stepped in the ring to call the match before Bryan managed to get the Yes lock again.

Reigns was nearly out when Jey Uso took out Edge and Bryan, saving The Tribal Chief. Uso got a steel chair and took out Edge. Bryan turned the tables on Jey and used the chair on Uso before Roman came back with the Superman punch.

Bryan managed to get the Yes Lock again and Roman was about to tap out when Edge came in with the steel chair and took out both of them. He yelled "this is mine!" before walking out.

Roman got the cover after Edge left and got the win to retain the title at Fastlane.

Result: Roman Reigns def. Daniel Bryan to retain the Universal Championship

Fastlane saw the return of The Fiend and a fallout between Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks. McIntyre and Sheamus put on a great match while Edge turned heel to help Reigns retain his title.
