WWE: Flops of June 10th episode of RAW

Cody Rhodes_2

This week’s RAW wrapped things up before we head on to WWE Payback this Sunday, from Rosemont, Illinois. Triple H was advertised for this RAW to make his in – ring return after 3 weeks, when he suffered a concussion at the hands of Brock Lesnar at Extreme Rules PPV. Also advertised for the show was the revelation of Kaitlyn’s ‘secret admirer’. In this article, we look at the five flops of the show.

5. Cody Rhodes is now a jobber

How many of us remember Cody Rhodes being one of the best Intercontinental champions in the history of WWE? The fact is, Rhodes brought legitimacy back to the title. Not only did he replace the modern Intercontinental belt with the vintage, prestigious old belt, but he also held on to the title for a long time, before losing it. It was then speculated that Cody will be elevated to main event status, but the reality was completely different. Rhodes has since then been lost in the shuffle, and the sad part is, he is now nothing more than a glorified jobber in the company. Cody is talented, and is the son of legendary Dusty Rhodes. This week, he lost yet another match on RAW to The Miz. As sad as it is, it doesn’t look like Cody will be going anywhere from here.

4. Curtis Axel replaces Fandango for the IC title

Reports came in early yesterday that Fandango had suffered a concussion on Smackdown! last week, and even though he had passed the imPACT test, he wouldn’t be cleared to compete for a while. It turned out to be true, as this week on RAW, Fandango was swiftly replaced by Curtis Axel in the triple threat match at WWE Payback. Fandango is the second superstar in the past few weeks to have suffered a concussion in the WWE, with the other being the World Heavyweight champion, Dolph Ziggler. Talking about Ziggler, he was back on RAW this week, which was a welcome sight.

3. Kaitlyn’s ‘Secret Admirer’ is AJ Lee

According to the reports, this was supposed to be Mark Henry, but the creative changed its mind and went ahead with AJ being the one who had fooled Kaitlyn. Although it didn’t end up as a complete disaster, it will go down as yet another non sensical storyline by the WWE creative. They could have made it interesting, but decided to go ahead with this angle. AJ will face Kaitlyn this Sunday at WWE Payback for the Divas title. Am I interested in this match? As Dean Ambrose would put it – ‘Nope’.

2. Curtis Axel wins two matches via DQ and forfeit

It makes me wonder if WWE truly intends to build Curtis Axel as a legitimate threat for the main eventers. Triple H faced Axel twice this week, and dominated both the matches till Vince McMahon came down and handed both the bouts to Axel. No one keeps track of the win – loss record in the WWE. Everyone knows that, but the fact that WWE refuses to give a pin fall victory to Axel just proves how they don’t even care about creating stars. No one takes Axel seriously, and you can’t blame them. Axel is just one step away from becoming a cruel joke played by the WWE creative on the passionate fans, who thought Curtis would follow in his legendary father’s footsteps.

1. Vince McMahon – Triple H saga, again!

McMahon2

It’s like we’ve travelled back in time all over again! Something which took place in 2000 isn’t supposed to take place again in 2013. How many times have we seen Vince and Triple H going at it? The answer, sadly is many times. Whenever the ratings drop, we see the McMahons back on TV, and that is what is happening again. Not only are they completely taking away the trust they invested in the youngsters, but we’ve already seen everything the WWE can come up with between Triple H and Vince. Would I want to see either Vince or Triple H turn heel and feud with the other? No. Does it look like it’ll happen? Yes.
