The Miz and John Morrison have tried numerous devious schemes but have failed to pry the briefcase from Otis. The dispute made it to court as WWE Legends JBL, Ron Simmons, and Teddy Long all appeared in the Law & Otis segments.

The Miz levied several charges against Otis ranging from creating a hostile work environment to causing emotional and physical stress. JBL ruled in favor of the Miz and granted the A-Lister a shot at the coveted contract thanks to a valuable last piece of evidence he presented him with, a bribe.
