AJ Styles retained his WWE championship in a controversial fashion.

Another controversial ending for the WWE Championship Match. Samoa Joe vs. AJ Styles was a hard-hitting match and deserved a clear victor. However, with an eye at culminating the feud at the Super Show Down in Australia, WWE decided to have a scrawny finish.

However, this was an excellent match. The end came when AJ countered the Coquina clutch to a pinfall position. But as the referee was counting to three, AJ tapped out, which was conveniently not seen by the referee.
