#1 Why it is good: King Gable would be short-term
When WWE put both RAW and SmackDown Women’s Titles on the line for the main event of WrestleMania, they wanted to ensure that it was the biggest possible moment in the history of women’s wrestling.
And while it did work ‘in the moment’, the aftereffects became visible when Becky Lynch walked out of the Grandest Stage of Them All with two belts. Suddenly, there was a dearth of good storylines in the women’s division, and Lynch having both the belts meant that the options were limited.
With Gable as the King, there won’t be any long-term benefits in terms of building storylines as he won’t be going around bragging about being the King for weeks. If he wins the final, that moment itself will be the highest point of his King storyline, and there is little chance for it to get better after that.
There is an option for him to turn heel later to increase the shelf-life of his crown, but Gable being a villain is not something that would get him over with the fans right now, especially after his underdog portrayal for the entirety of the tournament.
