Jimmy Snuka is a legend of professional wrestling, and was one of the most popular babyfaces in the history of WWE. Coined for his famous “I love you” hand signal and Superfly Splash finishing move, Snuka was a top star for the company in the 1980s. Although he never won a championship for the company, he still has one of the most memorable moments in wrestling history by jumping off the top of the cage to splash Don Muraco in Madison Square Garden.

Although Snuka has been well-respected in the wrestling business, his past transgressions has seemingly came back to haunt him. Throughout his career, there has been a dark cloud looming over him regarding the murder of his then-girlfriend Nancy Argentino. Thirty-two years after appearing to be free from conviction, he was charged with third-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter. However, his attorneys filed a motion that he was incompetent to stand trial, due to his declining health. Now, it appears that his condition is at an all-time low, as TMZ reports that Snuka only has six months to live.
This information was given by way of a court hearing that Snuka had to attend via Skype due to being in the hospital. During the hearing, Snuka’s doctor gave the unfortunate news that he is battling terminal stomach cancer, and only has six months to live.
While Snuka had a series of diagnoses before this hearing, and he was previously deemed not competent to stand trial, this date was purposed for the courts determining whether he was still in the same state. Based on the new information given to the judge of the 73-year-old being worse than before, it does not seem that there will be a conviction of Snuka for the 1983 murder.
There has been a great deal of backlash for Snuka, however, since the 2015 arrest. As a result of the case being reopened, Snuka was removed from the list of Hall of Fame inductees on the WWE website, an achievement he was granted in 1996. To this day, his profile has yet to appear on the site. Sadly, this action may continue to be a dark cloud in Snuka’s career, and as his health deteriorates, we may never get to know the truth behind the 1983 crime.
