The January 6th, 2025, edition of Monday Night RAW is a massive occasion for WWE and Triple H. On that day, the Adam Pearce-led brand will debut on video streaming platform Netflix. Superstars like John Cena, Roman Reigns, and The Rock are all advertised for this episode.
While WWE has also announced matches like Roman Reigns vs. Solo Sikoa and CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins for RAW's debut on Netflix, there is a chance a WWE legend could return and set up a match against Gunther. The WWE legend who could return on this historic episode is Goldberg.
Gunther did not hold back at Bad Blood earlier this year as he insulted Goldberg in front of his son. While the WCW veteran tried to get inside the ring and teach him a lesson, security quickly came out and defused the tension between the two superstars.
It's also worth noting that a month after this incident, Goldberg announced he would return to the Stamford-based promotion in 2025 and have a retirement match. While the legendary wrestler did not mention a specific timeline, there is a chance he could return on RAW on January 6th.

Once he appears on the red brand, Goldberg could call out Gunther and challenge him to a match at an upcoming premium live event like Royal Rumble or WrestleMania. While the angle is speculative, there is a chance it could take place given the recent history between the two superstars.
A WWE legend recently said Goldberg must put Gunther over
Goldberg's professional wrestling career has been nothing short of legendary. During his time with WCW and WWE, Goldberg struck fear in the hearts of his opponents and also had some great accomplishments. Hence, it would only be fair for him to face a big name when he comes back for his retirement match next year.
As per legendary wrestling figure Teddy Long, the right person to retire Goldberg from professional wrestling would be the current World Heavyweight Champion, Gunther. During an episode of The Wrestling Time Machine, Long mentioned the right thing for the veteran to do would be to put The Ring General over:
"If you wanted to do the right thing, if you got a guy there that you wanted to really push and you wanted to really do something with, then that retirement match, I'd put that guy over, get up, shake his hand, congratulate him, and wish him good luck." (3:33 - 3:46)

A victory over a legend like Goldberg would only do Gunther good. However, it will also be interesting to see whether Triple H has different plans and a different opponent for Da Man's retirement match.
