The SmackDown Live roster stopped over in Savannah, Georgia for another house show which saw the likes of Jeff Hardy, AJ Styles, Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, Asuka and Charlotte Flair, among other names, in action in various matches.
Daniel Bryan was absent from the show, however, Erick Rowan wrestled his first match after almost seven months against a WWE veteran. That and more happened at the live event that contained seven matches in total, including three titles bouts.
So without further adieu, let's get right into the results and highlights of the show:
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
#1 The Usos (c) vs. The New Day vs. Shinsuke Nakamura & Rusev (WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match)
The show kicked off with an explosive tag team encounter that featured three of the best tag teams on the blue brand. The Usos put their newly won straps on the line in a match that got the ball rolling for the night.
It was a solid opener as the three teams put on an engaging contest. The New Day was the most over team, however, as expected, The Usos managed to retain the titles in the end.
Result: The Usos def. The New Day and Shinsuke Nakamura & Rusev
#2 R-Truth vs. Andrade (WWE United States Championship Match)
Yes, the United States Champion is still alive and kicking! R-Truth put the third most important title in the WWE on the line against Andrade in decent follow up to the opener.
Truth was popular with the fans in attendance as Almas masterfully played his part as the heel. The champion successfully retained and we hope to see him more often on TV with Fastlane and WrestleMania 35 coming up soon. On a side note, Zelina Vega was incredible as always.
Result: R-Truth def. Andrade
#3 SAnitY vs. The Club
A match featuring two of the most underutilized teams in the WWE faced each other next in what was a filler match of sorts. Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows got the job done with The Magic Killer against the forgotten SAnitY.
It was good to see the Good Brothers and the former NXT stars get some ring time.
Result: The Club def. SAnitY
#4 AJ Styles & The Miz vs. The Bar
There was a MizTV segment prior to the match that had AJ Styles as the guest. Sheamus and Cesaro interrupted the proceedings and the impromptu match was booked.
The unlikely alliance of Miz and Styles was insanely over with the crowd as the babyfaces managed to beat the former SmackDown Tag Team Champions in a highly entertaining match.
We're sure Miz would prefer his new makeshift tag team partner over Shane McMahon any day of the week.
Result: The Miz and AJ Styles def. The Bar
#5 Shelton Benjamin vs. Erick Rowan
The stooge of the eco-friendly WWE Champion Erick Rowan returned to in-ring action against the Gold Standard.
It was a dominant performance by the former Wyatt Family member who went over the former WWE United States Champion. The match wasn't that great but set things up well for the Women's title match that was about to follow.
Result: Erick Rowan def. Shelton Benjamin
#6 Asuka (C) vs. Charlotte Flair (WWE SmackDown Women's Championship Match) (The Ilconics as the special announcers and timekeepers)
Asuka and Flair put on one of the best matches of the night which had Peyton Royce and Billie Kay as the timekeepers/announcers by ringside.
The Empress of Tomorrow dug deep and pulled off the win after locking in the Flair scion in the Asuka Lock.
Royce and Kay tried to play spoilsport all throughout the match but were eventually ejected by the referee after countless attempts of interruption.
Result: Asuka def. Charlotte Flair
#7 Samoa Joe & Randy Orton vs. Jeff Hardy and Rey Mysterio
The biggest names of SmackDown took centre stage for the main event of the show. Hardy and Mysterio teamed up to take on the heel team of Orton and Joe.
The babyfaces came out on top and celebrated their win to send the fans home happy.
Result: Jeff Hardy & Rey Mysterio def. Samoa Joe & Randy Orton
