While the SmackDown roster was busy pulling out all stops at Clash of Champions, their counterparts in red were in Allentown, Pennsylvania for another live event.
All of the top stars from the red brand were in action with Roman Reigns and The Miz being the only relevant names missing from proceedings. The show headlined by the tag team titles match had an epic clash between Braun Strowman and Samoa Joe and the teaser of a much-needed heel turn.
Here are the results and highlights of the show:
#1 Finn Balor vs. Bray Wyatt
The Demon King and the Eater of Worlds continued their rivalry on the live event circuit as the duo put on a surprisingly solid opening match. The fans were hot for the Balor Club leader all throughout the match which saw Wyatt fall short at the sound of the final bell.
The entrances of both the superstars kicked the show off on a positive note and only got better from there on.
Result: Finn Balor def. Bray Wyatt
#2 Enzo Amore vs. Kalisto (WWE Cruiserweight Championship)
The first title match of the evening saw the Bonafide Stud put the strap on the line against Kalisto. The match, best described as a botch-fest by the fans in attendance, ended with Amore picking up the win with the JawDonZo.
Kalisto was decently over with the fans owing to his high-flying antics but it wasn't enough for him to pull off the upset.
Result: Enzo Amore def. Kalisto
#3 Asuka vs. Dana Brooke
The Pennsylvania fans were treated to the brilliance of Asuka up next as she made quick work of Dana Brooke. Brooke got some valuable time in the ring, more than what she is usually afforded by the WWE and came out looking better than usual in the losing effort.
The Empress of Tomorrow was at her charismatic best and finished the match off with the Asuka Lock.
Result: Asuka def. Dana Brooke
#4 Heath Slater, Ryhno, Titus O'Neil & Apollo Crews vs. Bo Dallas, Curtis Axel, Goldust & Curt Hawkins
The battle of the mid-carders ended with the babyfaces picking up the win. The mammoth 8-man tag team match was a brief affair but not without its comedic anecdotes. The forgotten team of Slater and Rhyno led their team to a satisfying win against the heels.
On a side note, Curt Hawkins's losing streak extended to 0-145.
Result: Slater, Ryhno, O'Neil & Crews def. Dallas, Axel, Goldust & Hawkins
#5 Sasha Banks & Bayley vs. Nia Jax & Alicia Fox
Bayley and Sasha were two of the most popular superstars on the night in their match against Nia Jax and Alica Fox. The match was refreshingly quite good due to the strong performances put in by the competitors in question.
Bayley and Banks didn't disappoint the fans as they picked up the W against Jax and Fox, who despite losing, came out looking impressive in the contest.
Result: Banks & Bayley def. Jax and Fox
#6 Braun Strowman vs. Samoa Joe
The biggest match of the night saw the monsters of Raw go toe-to-toe in a behemothic clash. Strowman got the biggest pop of the night and lived up to the expectations by putting on a hard-hitting encounter with the Samoan Submission Machine.
Joe guided Strowman in true veteran fashion as the two intimidating stars tore the house down with a brutal match. However, Strowman went over Joe in this one, much to the pleasure of the fans of the Monster Among Men.
Result: Strowman def. Joe
#7 Elias vs. Jason Jordan
Jason Jordan just can't seem to catch a break. Kurt Angle Jr was mercilessly booed during his match against Elias at the house show. Elias was just about to debut his new single when Jordan crashed the party and demanded a match.
Elias obliged and the two men squared up. In what could be termed as a heelish win, Jordan faked a knee injury and rolled Elias up for the win. This was while a section of the fanbase cheered for Elias despite being a heel.
The screwy finish protected Elias and continued the slow-burn to a Jordan heel turn.
Result: Jason Jordan def. Elias
#8 Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose vs. The Bar (Raw Tag Team Championship)
The main event of the evening turned out to be the match of the night. Rollins and Ambrose successfully defended the titles against Sheamus and Cesaro after the match ended in DQ.
The crowd was invested in this match from bell to bell. Rollins and Ambrose showed why they are the top stars in WWE by working the match and the crowd to perfection.
They weren't done even after the match, though. The Shield brothers took out Sheamus and Cesaro after the bout and ended the night on top. A great way to send the fans back home.
Result: The Shield def. The Bar
