After the in-ring returns of Kalisto and Becky Lynch at the recent SmackDown live events, it was up to the red brand to deliver the goods at the recent RAW-exclusive PPV. With three championship matches and the presence of top superstars such as Kevin Owens, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Chris Jericho, the fans were bound to get their money’s worth.
The fans in Minnesota were treated to some solid in-ring action that portrayed the potential of the RAW roster in its fullest capacity. So, here are the results from the show:
1. Neville vs. Bo Dallas
The show kicked off with a lower mid-card bout with fan favorite Neville going up against the newly reformed heel in Bo Dallas. As expected, Neville did his gravity-defying best to leave the fans in splits and came out top against Dallas. Interestingly, Neville didn’t use the Red Arrow but the 450 splash to finish the match. Here is a video of the epic maneuver posted by a fan:
Result: Neville def. Bo Dallas
2. Braun Strowman vs. Sin Cara
Braun Strowman was in action up next and faced off against Sin Cara. The Luchador got in a considerable amount of offense against the behemoth but met the same fate as always – the inevitable loss against the undefeated monster. Strowman has been getting some valuable in-ring experience by working relatively longer matches with Sin Cara at live events.
The real test for him lies ahead when he faces off against his first legit opponent in Sami Zayn and surely, the David vs Goliath dynamic would make for an entertaining feud.
Result: Bruan Strowman def. Sin Cara
3. Enzo & Cass, The Golden Truth and Darren Young vs. Jinder Mahal, Titus O’Neil, The Shining Stars and Curtis Axel (10-Man Tag Team Match)
This mammoth tag team match pitting the faces against the heels was quite an entertaining encounter indeed. The match was a fun-filled bout due to the vivid and colorful personalities featured.
Enzo and Cass were quite over with the fans apart from Golden Truth and Curtis Axel – a Minnesota native.
Result: Enzo & Cass, Golden Truth and Darren Young def. Jinder Mahal, Titus O’Neil, The Shining Stars and Curtis Axel
4. Cesaro vs. Chris Jericho
The Swiss Superman and The Ayatollah of Rock and Rolla put on a great match for the fans, which isn’t a surprise considering the in-ring credentials of both men. Cesaro was the over face while Jericho, despite being equally loved by the fans, did his job of being the cocky heel to perfection.
Cesaro notched up an impressive win over the WWE legend after putting on a solid match.
Result: Cesaro def. Chris Jericho
5. Roman Reigns vs. Rusev (WWE United States Championship)
Just like how Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens are destined to face each other forever, the same seems to be the case with Reigns and Rusev. The only difference is that the fans won’t want to see the later as much as they would love to watch Owens and Zayn go at it.
Roman Reigns put the title on his line against the Bulgarian Brute, and as expected, won the match to retain the United States Championship. The two are set to conclude their feud inside the Hell In A Cell for the United States Championship.
Result: Roman Reigns def. Rusev to retain the United States Championship
6. Sasha Banks, Bayley and Alicia Fox vs. Nia Jax, Dana Brooke and Charlotte
The only women’s match of the night saw WWE RAW Women’s Champion Sasha Banks team up with Bayley and Alicia Fox in a tag team match against Nia Jax, Dana Brooke and Charlotte. Unlike previous live events where Sasha and Charlotte had a Women’s title match, WWE booked all the relevant talents in a decent six women tag team match.
The babyfaces naturally came out on top against the heels. The Boss and The Hugger were quite over with the Minnesota fans.
Result: Sasha Banks, Bayley and Alicia Fox def. Nia Jax, Dana Brooke and Charlotte
7. The New Day vs. The Club (WWE RAW Tag Team Championship match)
The familiar foes took each other on in good match for the tag team straps. Despite the fact that the New Day are getting stale on TV, they garnered a favorable reaction from the fans in attendance.
When it comes to their televised feud, New Day is scheduled to defend their titles against the dysfunctional team of Sheamus and Cesaro while Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows are set to face the insanely over team of Enzo and Cass.
Result: The New Day def. The Club to retain the WWE Tag Team Championships
8. Kevin Owes vs. Seth Rollins vs. Sami Zayn (WWE Universal Championship match)
The dream triple threat main event was all that you’d expect it to be; an all-out classic. The three talented men put on the match of the night that had some great spots, some smooth chemistry, and false finishes to end it on a high.
Kevin Owens successfully defended the title against his perennial rival in Sami Zayn and the Architect Seth Rollins. The fans were behind Zayn and Rollins and the two worked beautifully in tandem to vent their collective wrath on KO during the match.
Result: Kevin Owens def. Seth Rollins and Sami Zayn to retain the WWE Universal Championship
