The SmackDown Live roster stopped over in Bossier City, Louisiana for a house show that included all the top stars in action. AJ Styles headlined the event by putting the WWE Championship on the line against the man he dethroned to win it, Jinder Mahal.

The US Title was defended in a triple threat match while various other tag team and single matches rounded up an eventful show.

So without further adieu, here are the results and highlights of the show:

#1. The Usos (c) vs. The New Day vs. Breezango vs. Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin (SmackDown Tag Team Titles match)

The show kicked off with an explosive 8-man tag team match for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship. As you may have guessed by now, this was the match of the night by virtue of the talents involved.

At the final bell, Usos had managed to do just enough to hold on to their straps. All the babyface teams were quite over with the fans in attendance as the heel champions ran away with the victory.

Result: The Usos def. The New Day, Breezango and Shelton Benjamin

#2. Rusev vs. Viktor

An inconsequential singles match followed that was only tolerable because of Machka's presence. No disrespect to Viktor, but Rusev is the real MVP.

It was a field day for Rusev as he notched up an easy win against the former NXT Tag TeamChampion.

Result: Rusev def. Viktor

#3. Erick Rowan & Luke Harper vs. The Hype Bros

Harper and Rowan surprisingly wrestled without their Bludgeon brothers gimmick at the house show against the Hype Bros. The former Wyatt Family members made quick work of Ryder and Mojo Rawley in a match that didn't excite the fans in attendance all that much.

While it was initially believed that Rowan and Harper had dropped the new gimmick, their returns on the latest episode of SmackDown Live put to rest off of those rumours.

#4. Randy Orton & Shinsuke Nakamura def. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn

The Apex Predator and The Artist teamed up to take on the reunited best friends. Orton and Nakamura were insanely over with the Lousiana fans as they managed to overcome the obstacles set by the heel duo of Owens and Zayn.

Orton ended the encounter in his team's favour with an RKO on the Underdog from the Underground. The fans were said to be really hot for the finish.

It ended up being a great bout before the US title was defended in an exciting triple threat soon after.

Result: Randy Orton & Shinsuke Nakamura def. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn

#5. Baron Corbin (c) vs. Tye Dillinger vs. Bobby Roode (United States Title Match)

The Lone Wolf put his US title on the line against two of the most underutilised stars of the SmackDown roster. While it may be too early to judge Roode's career trajectory on the blue brand, Dillinger hasn't even been getting enough TV time.

Nonetheless, the Perfect Ten returned to action and played his part in a solid triple threat championship match. Corbin, however, had the last laugh as he somehow managed to overcome the odds to successfully retain the strap.

Roode and Dillinger were obviously quite over while Corbin was public enemy number one in Bossier City. Number two as the most hated man on the roster closed the show.

Result: Baron Corbin def. Tye Dillinger and Bobby Roode to retain the title

#6. Charlotte Flair (c), Naomi & Becky Lynch vs. Lana, Carmella, Natalya & Tamina Snuka (3-on-4 Handicap Tag Team Match)

It was a major letdown for the fans who would have liked to see Charlotte defend her title in a singles Championship match. However, WWE had other plans and threw in all the top women on the roster for this handicap match.

A fairly decent match that had the crowd firmly in the babyfaces' side. The SmackDown Women's Champion won the match for her team when she forced the Ravishing Russian to tap out to the Figure 8 Leg Lock.

Result: Charlotte, Naomi & Becky Lynch def. Lana, Carmella, Natalya & Tamina Snuka

#7. AJ Styles (c) vs. Jinder Mahal (WWE Championship Match)

The WWE Championship rematch that was cancelled from today's episode of SmackDown happened a day earlier exclusively for the fans in Bossier City. This was, without a shadow of a doubt, Jinder Mahal's best match till date, similar to the title-changing match on SmackDown a couple of weeks back.

Styles got the biggest pops of the night whereas the Moder Day Maharaja was jeered to death. In the end, the Phenomenal One retained his title, celebrated in the ring and sent the fans home happy. A good warm-up bout before the two battle for the WWE title at the upcoming SmackDown Live PPV, Clash of Champions.
