According to Wrestling Observer’s newsletter, long time TNA announcer Mike Tenay may no longer be a part of the franchise in 2016, with his contract set to expire at the end of the year.
Tenay, who has been with the franchise since its inception and made sporadic appearances in recent months, recently gave an interview to Sports Illustrated’s Extra Mustard in order to promote his betting podcast ‘Professor Vegas’ during which it was stated that he was still employed with TNA.
The announcer couldn’t reveal whether he’ll feature in TNA’s live POP TV debut in January but did have some glowing words about the franchise and its upcoming POP TV stint.

The 60-year-old was quoted as saying: “That hasn’t been discussed with me. I think it’s great that TNA, in a very competitive time, found that outlet for Impact Wrestling. There is an absolutely terrific group of very talented people who still have the ability to ply their trade and make a living because of that, and it’s fantastic for everybody involved.”
Tenay was handpicked by TNA co-founder Jeff Jarrett and soon became a strong force withing the franchise, appearing in every episode of Impact Wrestling until this year. His role in TNA extends far beyond his announcing, with Jarrett labelling him as the ‘Voice of the Fans’.
