WWE Main Event Recap - December 5, 2013

With just three matches on the card, each bout had plenty of time to build the drama through in-ring stories and wrestlers offending each other.

Tables, Ladders & Chairs is less than two weeks away, so the hype train has already started as the company looks to rebound from what has been a string of underwhelming pay-per-views.

One of the wrestlers from Main Event on Wednesday already has a match for TLC, with two more looking sure to be on the card.

Match One: Goldust (with Cody Rhodes) vs. Ryback (with Curtis Axel)

Goldust lands a right hand to the head that knocks Ryback down. Ryback hits a kick to the gut and several strikes. Goldust reverses a whip and hits a back elbow. Ryback chops him in the corner. He hits Goldust with a headbutt.

Goldust comes back with an arm drag. He kicks Ryback and Ryback rolls out of the ring. Goldust kicks him from the apron and drops to the floor. He slams Ryback’s arm against the barrier and things head back inside. He drops a pair of knees on Ryback’s arm and then locks it in.

Ryback lands a body slam. He goes to drop and elbow and Goldust moves. Goldust hits a back elbow, goes up top and hits Ryback with a cross body. Ryback comes back quickly with a power whip into the corner. Ryback hits a shoulder knockdown that sends Goldust to the outside as things go to commercial.

Ryback shoves Goldust to the mat, and Goldust rolls to the apron. Ryback picks Goldust up from the apron and hits a delayed vertical Suplex. He locks in Goldust’s waist on the mat.

Goldust gets to his feet. Ryback whips Goldust. He charges Goldust. Goldust goes for a power-slam, but doesn’t quite land it correctly. They both get to their feet, and Goldust mounts some offense. He hits a spine buster and clotheslines Ryback out of the ring. He leaps over the top rope and takes Ryback out.

Axel approaches. Cody Rhodes takes him out. Goldust sends Ryback back inside. He hits Ryback with the Final Cut. Axel breaks up the pin attempt.

Winner via DQ: Goldust

Match Two: The Usos vs. 3MB (Jinder Mahal and Drew McIntyre)

Mahal and Jimmy start off. Mahal hits a shoulder tackle. Jimmy hits a clothesline. He chops Mahal into his corner. Jey tags in and hits a clothesline. He clotheslines Mahal to the outside. Jey sends back inside.

McIntyre tags in and takes out Jey to the outside. He sends Jey back in and Mahal tags in. He hits Jey with multiple strikes and chokes him on the top rope. Mahal tags in McIntyre.

3MB drop Jey onto the top rope. McIntyre lands multiple clubbing blows to the back. Jey comes back with strikes and chops. McIntyre kicks Jey in the head and locks in his arm in on the mat. Jey gets to his feet and hits a DDT.

Mahal and Jimmy tag in. Jimmy hits multiple clotheslines and kicks. He goes for the running corner hip attack, but Mahal moves. Jimmy hits a super kick, and McIntyre breaks up the pin.

Jey attacks McIntyre and sends him to the outside. Mahal takes Jimmy up top and goes for a superplex. Jimmy stops him and headbutts him off to the mat. Jimmy hits the Superfly splash for the win.

Winners: The Usos

Match Three: R Truth vs. Damien Sandow

Truth locks in a side headlock. Sandow goes for a hip toss. Truth counters with a back slide. Sandow hits a knee to the gut. Truth hits a hip toss and a leg drop.

Sandow trips Truth into the corner and lands multiple kicks and knees. Sandow hits a snap mare. He locks in Truth’s head from behind. Truth gets out and hits a heel kick.

Sandow hits a kick to the head and locks in Truth’s arm.

Truth battles out and hits a flying clothesline. Truth lands multiple head shots. He goes for a cross body, but Sandow moves. He tosses Truth into the corner and hits the somersault Russian leg sweep.

Truth hits several clotheslines and plants Sandow on the mat. He goes for a scissors kick, but Sandow counters into a full Nelson slam attempt. Truth counters out and hits a scissors kick for a near pin fall. He tries to keep the offense up, but Sandow comes back with the full Nelson slam for the win.
