It has been six weeks since Drew McIntyre last appeared in WWE when he lost to CM Punk in a brutal Hell in a Cell Match at Bad Blood. This ended his nearly nine-month rivalry with The Best in the World.

The Scottish Warrior is not expected to miss much more time and should be back soon in search of his new storyline. What plans WWE creative has for him remains unknown, and it is unclear if he will maintain his status as a big-time player heading into the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 41 next year.

Drew McIntyre has no major storylines to work on going forward

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

Amid his rivalry with CM Punk, The Scottish Warrior feuded with Seth Rollins, Damian Priest, Gunther, and Jey Uso. All four of them, though, are expected to engage in big-time storylines in the coming months.

Priest could re-ignite his feud with The Judgment Day leader Finn Balor, Rollins will resume his rivalry with CM Punk, while Jey Uso will remain part of The Bloodline civil war, and Gunther is expected to have a match with WWE legend Goldberg.

Thus, there are not many things Drew McIntyre could do on RAW, and it wouldn't come as a surprise if WWE used him in a mid-card storyline, at least for a while.

He could work on a storyline with Wade Barrett

Drew McIntyre has done a great job as a heel in WWE. During his rivalry with CM Punk, he teased a feud with his good friend and RAW commentator, Wade Barrett.

Barrett has retired from in-ring competition and has taken over roles in the WWE commentary team. Still, a feud between the two friends could be what the former World Heavyweight Champion needs before getting back to the title picture.

It could open the way for a match against a former TNA partner

Nearly a decade ago, Drew McIntyre was a member of a faction in TNA called The Rising, alongside LA Knight and Tonga Loa. Their partnership lasted three months and wasn't so successful.

If the Scottish Warrior moves to SmackDown, he could go after the current United States Champion and challenge him for the title, recalling their days from TNA and starting a new storyline.
