WWE Superstars Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens will finally trade blows with each other at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 14, 2024. With both wrestlers seething to punish each other, the match has the potential to go either way. However, the Stamford-based promotion may have accidentally spoiled the outcome of the Undisputed WWE Championship match. Here are three signs that already seem to reveal the victor of the bout.
#3. Cody Rhodes received a special gift from Triple H
It is no secret that Triple H loves Cody Rhodes' title reign, owing to his repeated good gestures towards the champion. The Game had gifted The American Nightmare a watch passed down by the late great Dusty Rhodes right after he defeated Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XL. This time, however, WWE’s Chief Content Officer has given Rhodes a gift even before stepping into the ring.

A backstage promo video showed Triple H telling Rhodes about the significance the relaunch of Main Event holds and which legendary veterans will attend it. He also handed The American Nightmare a case carrying a valuable item and permitted him to use it just for one night. Cody Rhodes opened the case and was met with a golden glow, suggesting it was a championship belt.
This could very well be the original Winged Eagle title which was actively used between 1988 and 1998. The American Nightmare has always been vocal about making efforts to bring the title back to WWE, even if it was for just one night. Hence, if he walks into the arena with that title, it is very unlikely that he will lose.
#2. Cody Rhodes is a highly protected superstar
Cody Rhodes has been one of WWE’s highly protected superstars for a very long time now. The American Nightmare was even protected against Gunther, who himself is a highly protected star, in Riyadh, where he became the inaugural Men ’s Crown Jewel Champion.
Thus, there is little chance that he would be dethroned this Saturday at the hands of Kevin Owens. The company may try to force a tie via interference to protect both Rhodes as well as The Prizefighter in the title match.
#1. The American Nightmare is yet to deal with The Final Boss
Cody Rhodes and The Rock still have unfinished business with each other. During the buildup to, and at WrestleMania XL, The Final Boss completely dominated The American Nightmare. Moreover, Rhodes may not have been able to finish his story had The Undertaker not taken The Rock out of his way.
The Great One had recently made a cameo appearance at Bad Blood where he signaled that he was going to be bad news for both Rhodes and Roman Reigns. Interestingly, The Rock also carries a personalized Brahma Bull belt with him.
Thus, it would be an iconic match if the Undisputed WWE Champ brings the Winged Eagle belt later on to face The Final Boss. While this seems to be an unique opportunity for WWE, it is only speculation yet.
