What's the story?
Michelle Waterson may not have fared well in UFC 218, but there may be yet another opportunity open to her if her career in MMA does not pan out, as she wants it to. A run in WWE is something Waterson wouldn't rule out.
She was a part of UFC Media Day before her big fight and told Fightful.com that she believes a WWE stint would be fun. We thank Bloody Elbow for the transcript herein.
In case you didn't know...
Michelle Waterson has been making waves lately, appearing on the front cover of ESPN's body issue. She could not carry her momentum from the mainstream world into the Octagon, however, as she lost to Tecia Torres by a unanimous decision.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
All hope may not be lost, considering a career in WWE may just be on the horizon for Michelle Waterson someday.
The heart of the matter
When asked if Waterson would consider a stint in WWE, Waterson said the following words:
I think it would be fun. I think if I were to get into pro wrestling, I’d be able to utilize some of my more artistic martial arts that I started in the beginning with. But yeah, why not? If the door’s open, why not?
Waterson did admit that she was not a fan of WWE or indeed, professional wrestling, as a kid. However, she's become far more aware of the product in recent times.
What's next?
Following her loss at UFC 218, it remains to be seen what's in store for Waterson, in her MMA future. Her WWE career is still a long way away. The Four Horsewomen are likely to be the focal point of MMA based programming in WWE, in the very immediate future.
Author's take
Waterson is gorgeous, and so if she decides to go to WWE, that should be a great plus point for her. With Sonya Deville and the possibility of the Four Horsewomen joining the roster, I do not see her creating as big a ripple as the other women though.
I'd totally like to see her in WWE, someday.
