WWE Monday Night Raw: August 18, 2014 - Top 5 Moments of the Week

Las Vegas was feeling the SummerSlam fall out on Monday when the Thomas and Mack Center welcomed the companys weekly flagship show.There werent much pressure on the company considering how brilliantly they pulled off the pay-per-view on Sunday. Despite this, there were no complacency from the side of writers as it was a good show overall.Tag Team division and the SummerSlam feuds were the big stories while some Cenas absence was really felt after last nights demolition. Night of champions is shaping out to be a modified version of SummerSlam from what happened at Raw, and here is a look at the best moments from the night.

#5 I dedicate my life to you, Paige

Paige and AJ Lee had a match at SummerSlam which suggested that the two still has a lot of fuel in them to further lengthen the feud that is already two pay-per-views old.

Well, the segment in Raw underlined this statement. Paige was having her match with Natalya and AJ came out of nowhere to cost the divas champion her match. The promo which followed from AJ was crazy as hell and left the fans wondering who is crazier.

The antics of Paige in between the ropes are getting more complex as the feud progresses when AJ is not far behind.

This is one feud that the divas division had been waiting for a long time and now that it is happening, hopefully the company would give enough time for both the divas to perform under the limelight.

#4 Cesaros win

After jobbing for a few weeks, Cesaro picked up a well-deserved win on Monday when he dispatched his former Real American partner.

The match wasn’t as good as the one that Cesaro lost in the past weeks but getting a win gives him some kind of momentum, for which he was desperate for. Swagger had a confrontation with Bo Dallas after the match which suggests a possible program between the two.

Cesaro on the other hand has no future angle set for him which is sad considering the direction he was supposed to go after WrestleMania.

It is a win nevertheless for him and now that Ziggler got what he deserved, it might not be late before Cesaro gets served well.

#3 Henry standing up to Rusev

Mark Henry was one of the top performers this week thanks to a tag team win and dominance over Rusev. The former made the fans dream about a title match against Usos for the giant team while the latter destroyed that and gave something better.

Henry standing up to Rusev managed to produce the loudest USA chant ever since WWE started running the Russian angle which is a good start to say the least.

The writers did well to project Lesnar as the biggest challenge Rusev has face till now and Lana’s acting skills deserves appreciation as well. She should actually think about giving some classes to the Bella twins who literally messed up a top angle.

#2 Ladies and Gentleman, its Paul Heyman

Words cannot describe how good Heyman is when he gets a microphone. After Lesnar destroyed Cena at SummerSlam, the evil wrestling genius had more to brag about and he did it with such dedication that most fans were having goose bumps.

Heyman pointed out that Cena deserved some credit and respect for the beating he took which was the surprise package of his promo.

The prospect of Cena being a Paul Heyman guy someday was also thrown out to the fans as food for thought.

Lesnar was supposed to steal the show as the new champion, but Heyman simply overshadowed the beast and all those suplexes that he gave out at SummerSlam to win the championship which looks swell by the way.

#1 Curb stomp into the cinder blocks

Anything that Rollins and Ambrose touch is apparently turning into gold. The duo made an awkwardly looking stipulation stand out at SummerSlam and gave the best match in the night that followed.

It was some intense action from the two even after Kane interfered to make it a bit unfair. However, unfortunately the match wouldn’t be remembered for a long time as it was overshadowed by the destruction of Ambrose.

The cinder blocks were well placed by the Authority for this specific purpose meaning that they have a lot more of heat from the crowd for those dastardly deeds.

The Lunatic Fringe however would be more over after this incident and running away from the medical staff before getting some attention.
