WWE Monday Night Raw Preview: 24 October, 2016

The Beast responds

Hell in a Cell is this Sunday night and the wrestling community might be split on the pay-per-view due to various reasons. However, with the card that WWE has in place, all this criticism could be brushed aside once the show is done and dusted.

Before we get to Sunday night, however, there is one major stop that WWE needs to make and it happens on Monday Night.

If last week’s Raw will be remembered for the return of Goldberg, this week will be all about Hell in a Cell. WWE will be going all guns blazing for the show and here are the things that could be addressed on the show

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

#5 Triple threat headache for champion

Kevin Owens has a title defence coming up at Hell in a Cell on Sunday night. But before that, he has bigger issues to deal with this Monday night. Owens is booked for a match with Seth Rollins and Chris Jericho for Raw and the Triple Threat will have huge implications for the match on Sunday.

First of all, the relationship between Owens and Jericho will be a subplot to keep an eye on. Owens, being the intelligent man that he is, would want to inflict pain on Rollins so that it would be easier for him on Sunday. He would be looking to lure in Jericho for a deal, but it will be a volatile situation for sure. Also, Jericho is rumoured to be added into the Hell In A Cell match as a special guest referee, according to rumours, which could be a good twist to the proceedings.

#4 Brock Lesnar responds to Goldberg

Is The Beast ready?

Goldberg came out and accepted Brock Lesnar’s challenge last week and now it’s time for the Beast to give a suitable response. Though we might not get to see Goldberg and Lesnar faceoff, Lesnar and his advocate would have something to say and if anything involves Paul Heyman, it’s must-watch television.

The talent that Heyman has to sell matches is still unmatched in the WWE and this would probably be the best segment on Raw, without any Hell in a Cell implications. If we are on the lucky side and if WWE is desperate, we might get to see Goldberg, but the chances of this are slim.

#3 Sami stands up to Strowman

The baby face potential of Sami Zayn is endless. A few years ago, WWE created a magical underdog story for Daniel Bryan and if there is anyone on the roster who could replicate Bryan’s run, it is Zayn.

After months of irrelevance, he is back in the limelight once again thanks to Braun Strowman. Strowman, who had his own Goldberg-like squash run on Raw since the brand split, would have his first formidable opponent in the form of Zayn. With Zayn going up against Strowman, there are a lot of questions that need to be answered.

The most important one, perhaps, would be Strowman‘s ability to branch beyond squash outings and deliver a proper storyline.

#2 The Women of Hell in a Cell

Sasha Banks and Charlotte gave interviews to Lita last week on Raw to hype their upcoming showdown at Hell in a Cell. WWE is giving this particular storyline the ‘big match’ feel it deserves and the interviews projected this.

The pressure is on WWE to deliver something better this week around as it would be the homecoming edition of Raw for Hell in a Cell.

The battle lines have been drawn perfectly so far and the contrast between Charlotte and Sasha were there to be seen last week. We will have to tune into Raw to know who will get the upper hand ahead of Sunday night and no matter what WWE comes up with, the women’s segment would be worth watching.

#1 Reigns seek revenge

Ever since Roman Reigns was taken out of contention for the WWE Universal Championship, he was given a strong booking from the WWE. Reigns challenged Rusev for the United States championship after that and went on to win the championship as well.

The Samoan Superman was yet to take a big blow, but all that changed last week when Rusev destroyed him.

Rusev got the much needed upper hand over Reigns this past week and Reigns will not be a happy man after what happened. The scores need to be settled and the desperation from Reigns to do the same would be the motivation for this storyline this week.
