Just because you win Money in the Bank does not mean you're always safe from losing it. This is a lesson that these six WWE Superstars in particular learned during their time as Mr. Money in the Bank.

Edge was not only the first winner of Money in the Bank, but the first to defend his briefcase! He was forced to defend his contract against his long-standing enemy, Matt Hardy, during Monday Night RAW's Homecoming show. He would successfully win the ladder match by the skin of his teeth.

The former ECW original, Rob Van Dam, was Mr. Money in the Bank following WrestleMania 22, and during the lead up to WWE Backlash, he started a feud with Shelton Benjaman - the Intercontinental Champion.

The Whole F'n Show was forced to put his Money in the Bank contract on the line in a "Winner-Take-All" match against Benjaman. He would not only successfully defend his contract, but also win the Intercontential Championship.

Mr. Kennedy was next to defend his Money in the Bank briefcase in 2007. After winning WrestleMania 23's Money in the Bank match, Mr. Kennedy seemed poised for big things in WWE. With the man from "GREEN BAY WISCONSON" having a metophorical rocketship strapped to his back.

However, due to a real-life injury, WWE had him face Edge with the briefcase on the line. The Ultimate Opportunitist would win in quick fashion after he attacked Mr. Kennedy before the match even began.

Dolph Ziggler would be forced to defend his Money in the Bank contract not once but twice. After winning the blue brand's briefcase in 2012, Ziggler would eventually have to face Chris Jericho in a "Career vs Contract" match on Monday Night RAW, and then John Cena in a ladder match WWE's TLC pay-per-view.

The Show Off would successfully defend his contract on both occasions, and would eventually cash-in on Alberto Del Rio after his match against Jack Swagger on the Money Night RAW after WrestleMaina 29, winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship soon after. To this day, his cash-in is still thought to be one of the loudest crowd-reactions in WWE history.

The Monster Among Men would be forced to defend his Money in the Bank briefcase against Kevin Owens at SummerSlam in 2019, successfully retaining it and challenging Roman Reigns later that year. Finally, most recently, the 2020 male winner Otis would have to put his briefcase on the line against The Miz at that year's Hell in a Cell event. He would lose both the contract and his creative push in the progress.
