WWE SmackDown is returning to USA Network on September 13th, 2024. The season premiere episode of the blue brand is expected to bring forth an eventful evening, and maybe even some returns and surprises.
One of the matches already announced for the show is Kevin Owens & a mystery partner vs. A-Town Down Under in a tag team bout. While the popular pick for The Prizefighter's ally is Randy Orton, it's possible a 16-time World Champion will return to WWE TV as KO's partner. The champ in question is none other than John Cena.
Previously, The Franchise Player had announced himself as Kevin Owens' partner against The Bloodline in 2022. Furthermore, John Cena has a history with both Austin Theory and Grayson Waller. The Cenation Leader suffered a loss at the hands of Theory at WrestleMania 39. On the other hand, Waller confronted and attacked Cena at Money in the Bank 2023.
Cena's last WWE appearance was at Money in the Bank 2024 where he announced his retirement plans. He will be embarking on a retirement tour from January 2025, and try to be on as many shows as possible.
WWE SmackDown's USA Network premier has a championship match and return scheduled
On the upcoming episode of WWE SmackDown, Solo Sikoa is getting a second chance at dethroning Cody Rhodes. Prior to this, The Street Champion pursued the Undisputed WWE Championship at SummerSlam 2024, but Roman Reigns' interference cost him the victory.
Unfortunately for the self-proclaimed Bloodline leader, The OTC is reportedly returning to WWE TV on the same night. The last time he was on SmackDown, The Bloodline smashed him through the announcers' table. Reigns will return to avenge himself, and that means he will likely try to stop Solo Sikoa from becoming the Undisputed WWE Champion.
Furthermore, one can expect Jimmy Uso to return with The OTC or come out to the arena to assist the former Bloodline leader against the other members of the faction.
