Cody Rhodes will defend his Undisputed WWE Championship this Friday on SmackDown against the leader of The Bloodline and new Tribal Chief, Solo Sikoa.

This match will take place inside a Steel Cage to ensure that no interference from The Bloodline will take place. Still, we could see another superstar return to the blue brand and go after the Undisputed WWE Championship.

And this superstar is none other than the American Nightmare's best friend and mentor, Randy Orton.

Randy Orton needs a new direction

Randy Orton moved to RAW to challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship. However, his loss at Bash in Berlin meant that he had to return to SmackDown.

Thus, he now needs a new direction in his SmackDown journey and it would make sense for General Manager Nick Aldis to grant him a title match at Bad Blood. Orton could return and talk to Nick Aldis. The Viper could even interfere in Rhodes' match and eventually turn heel.

Randy Orton has to have a heel turn

It has been quite a while since Randy Orton was a heel. Since his return to WWE after missing 18 months with a serious back injury, he has been a babyface but has not achieved anything significant.

Thus, it could be the opportune time for him to have a heel turn and turn on The American Nightmare, setting a feud with him. The star could then go back to being the heel fans have been acquainted with over the years. He could even take the opportunity to either form a new version of Legacy and torment Rhodes over the next few months.

Cody Rhodes needs a new challenger

Cody Rhodes has defended his title multiple times since becoming the champion at WrestleMania 40. Still, we have seen him defend his title against superstars more than once. Such cases are AJ Styles and Solo Sikoa.

Thus, he needs a new challenger to step up, and taking on Randy Orton could make sense for him. At the same time, a rivalry between the two friends could create a new angle and the feud between Rhodes and Orton could be extended for weeks and multiple Premium Live Events.
