What’s the story?
WWE 205 Live competitor Cedric Alexander is all set to make a return to Evolve Wrestling. He will make two appearances for the promotion later this weekend.
In case you didn’t know…
Cedric Alexander first wrestled for Evolve back in 2016 in a losing effort to Matt Riddle. After that, he went on to participate in the next five Evolve shows and had a win-loss record of 2-3. At his last Evolve show (Evolve 67) Alexander lost to another WWE Cruiserweight Classic competitor, Zack Sabre Jr. before eventually signing with WWE.

The heart of the matter
Cedric will replace former Impact Wrestling star Davey Richards who is going to be sidelined for the rest of the year due to his knee injury. Richards who was scheduled to appear on both the shows will be undergoing a knee surgery.
Evolve co-owner Gabe Sapolsky, has been working backstage with Triple H at recent NXT events and it is because of him that WWE and Evolve have built such a strong relationship.
Alexander is going to face current Evolve champion Zack Sabre Jr. (a rematch from Evolve 67) on his first night, in a non-title match. The next night Cedric will compete against Fred Yehi in Chicago, as part of Evolve 93.
The World Wrestling Network issued a statement that read: September 21st: Cedric Alexander is coming straight from Monday Night Raw to EVOLVE 92 this Friday in Livonia, MI and EVOLVE 93 this Saturday in Summit, IL. Tickets are now on sale at TicketFly.com. Click the links for more building and show info. The addition of Cedric Alexander has resulted in some lineup changes, including a historic contest and a major title match being signed. We have the new lineups below.
The match between Cedric Alexander and Zack Sabre Jr. will not air on iPPV but it will surely be a treat for the fans who will be live in attendance.
With Cedric ready to face Zack Sabre Jr. on his first night, his match against Fred Yehi is also going to be one to look out for. The two men faced each other at Evolve 63, and the outcome saw Cedric pick up his first win at Evolve.
What’s next?
Once the two events are over, Alexander will make his return to the 205 live where he recently ended a feud with Noam Dar but seems to be starting a new rivalry with Jack Gallagher, who turned on him and attacked him with an umbrella a few weeks ago.
Author’s take
It is pretty amazing and shocking to see that WWE is acknowledging various Indy promotions from around the world and have built such an amazing relationship with these companies. Recently WWE also allowed Kassius Ohno to take part in a recent Insane Championship Wrestling event, where Ohno faced Joe Coffey for the ICW Heavyweight Title.
Progress Wrestling and Evolve are already two promotions which have a strong relationship with WWE. Stars such as Pete Dunne, Tyler Bate, and Trent Seven are also wrestling on the Indy scene on a regular basis as well as are performing on NXT TV.
In my opinion, WWE should continue their relationship with these Indy promotions which will benefit both the parties in the future as well as the present.
