What's the story?

Recent WWE/NXT signee and featured athlete on TV's American Ninja Warrior, Kacy Catanzaro, is a huge score for WWE. Not only is she a successful competitor on NBC's obstacle course show - and the first female competitor to ever finish the qualifying course - but she's parlayed that success into first a successful ad career but, now, a WWE wrestling career. But, what kind of character does she want to be?

In case you didn't know

Catanzaro, as we mentioned, became the first female to ever finish the first stage in an American Ninja Warrior qualifying round (and, unless our research is wrong, a feat that hasn't even been completed on the original Japanese version, Sasuke). It was announced on August 27th that Catanzaro tried out with and signed with WWE.

The heart of the matter

Clearly, it's still early in Kacy's career to decide what kind of character she's going to play on WWE programming (assuming she makes it that far, of course), She still intends to compete in this year's ANW finals on September 11 (which airs on NBC Sep. 18th), but win or lose, she's retiring from ANW and heading to WWE. And, as she told USA Today, she's got ideas regarding the character she wants to play.

"I’m not gonna be a bad guy. I’m definitely gonna be a babyface (and) keep the same (positive) brand that I am in Ninja, which is honestly who I am in general."

When it comes to her height, the five-foot ANW legend was defended by none other than Triple H, who reminded reporters that another five-foot WWE Superstar, Alexa Bliss, has also gone onto great success in WWE. .

What's next?

There's no real certainty as to when "Mighty Kacy" will appear on NXT, but when she does, WWE will certainly play up her Ninja Warrior background.

Author's take

I'm a long-time Ninja Warrior fan, back to when they aired footage of the original Japanese competition on the G4 cable network. Kacy has shown plenty of charisma outside of the Ninja Warrior course and if her enthusiasm about joining WWE is anything to go on, she should do pretty well to start out with,
