WWE News: Gunner talks about signing with WWE

Is Gunner heading to WWE?

What’s the story?

In a recent interview with WSVN-TV in Miami, Gunner discussed, among many things, the possibility of signing with WWE.

In case you didn’t know...

Gunner started his wrestling career in 2001 after serving with the U.S. Marines in the Iraq War. He joined TNA in 2010 and quickly became one of their most promising stars. By 2015, however, frustration with not getting a chance at the main event level set in, and he left the company to wrestle part time and focus more on acting and bodybuilding.

The heart of the matter

Gunner stated that it was Impact Wrestling’s loss that they didn’t give him a main event run. He also said that it was a childhood dream of his to work with WWE and lavished praise on his former TNA colleague Eric Young. He said:

" I had a lot of good opportunities in Impact Wrestling. I feel like it's their loss they didn't give me that main event run.”

"Man, that's a dream of mine. That 5-year old growing up still wants that WrestleMania moment. It's such an awesome company. I'd much rather have an opportunity with NXT or WWE. That's my ultimate goal... I've always liked working with Eric Young. It's weird because he was in TNA with me but we only wrestled probably two or three times but he's so good and I'd love to do a feud with him."

Author’s take

Again, if WWE is willing to make the deal, adding Gunner to NXT would be a huge benefit to the company. He may not have the same name recognition that AJ Styles or Samoa Joe had with casual WWE fans, but the hardcore NXT crowd will surely recognise him, and that can only add value to the company.
