Paige announced a second-chance matchup between Jeff Hardy and Daniel Bryan on SmackDown Live, instead of one featuring the seven-foot tall Cass.
In case you didn't know...
Hardy had faced the Miz in a failed attempt to qualify for the Money in the Bank match previously, where the A-list superstar had emerged victorious.
Similarly, Bryan was unable to secure a spot in the Ladder match, when the Bulgarian Brute, Rusev was able to defeat him.
Cass appeared to suffer an injury during the WWE Live Event in Amsterdam. He dropped to his knee on the ring apron after which he began to limp for the rest of the bout.
He was then helped to the back after the match was over, by a referee. The following night in Munich, he did the same thing, leading to speculation that the injury was a work by WWE for a storyline.
The heart of the matter
Paige took to Twitter and announced the cancellation of the match between Joe and Cass in a qualifying match for the Money in the Bank Ladder match.
She announced a match between Hardy and Bryan in a second-chance matchup instead, with the winner challenging Samoa Joe for the last spot in the Money in the Bank bout.
It remains unclear whether the injury Cass suffered was a work by WWE. This looks like it was all part of a storyline, which WWE is setting up, and that is the reason for Cass's removal.
What's next?
Hardy is set to face Bryan in a match on this week's SmackDown Live, with the winner facing Joe next week.
Author's take
Cass was not in WWE's good books after he failed to listen to backstage booking, and he grounded and pounded the person who was dressed up as Bryan in a segment.
The injury may be a work to keep him out of the match to punish him for his actions.
