From the WWE Rumor Mill: Big heel turn could happen soon on SmackDown Live

What's happening on SmackDown Live?

What's the story?

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn are having a pretty rough time on SmackDown Live. It seems like Shane McMahon has a personal vendetta against Owens and Zayn even though he won't admit it.

But CageSideSeats noted Shane McMahon's intensity toward The Prizefighter and The Underdog From The Underground might be leading toward a heel turn soon enough.

In case you didn't know...

Shane McMahon has played the bad guy before it's just been a very long time. Ever since returning to WWE, McMahon has been seen as an overwhelming babyface and a man of the people. But with this recent fire under him, it might mean a new and rougher side is on the way for Vince McMahon's baby boy

The heart of the matter

The idea behind all of this could be to make Shane McMahon push it to a level where he is putting Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn in the position of being sympathetic babyfaces. If Shane McMahon became unhinged and took his anger out on even more members of the SmackDown Live locker room, it might only add to the weight of the angle.

CageSideSeats notes this current program could take Shane McMahon overboard in his authoritative antics while punishing Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn which could lead to his heel turn. But the real question is what the real payoff for this story could be?

Daniel Bryan has been put in the middle of this situation as Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens' middleman between themselves and Shane McMahon. It also appeared this week that Bryan was growing weary of McMahon's new authoritative direction.

What's next?

Daniel Bryan is still not cleared for a return to the ring even though he has doctors who would allow him to wrestle tomorrow. Therefore a match with Shane McMahon vs Daniel Bryan could seem unlikely.

But if WWE were to allow The Bearded GOAT to wrestle once more it would only make sense if it would be in a match that mattered at WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans at the same building Bryan walked away with WWE's top prize four years earlier.

Author's take

We'll just have to see how this story with Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn transpires. But there have been a few hints to Shane McMahon's unraveling already, so who knows how far WWE will take it?
