What’s the story?
RAW started with Braun Strowman coming out to the ring to reflect on how he “broke Reigns in two” on last week’s installment of the show.
Strowman seemed smug about the fact that he made sure Reigns wasn’t going to be able to show up for this week’s RAW by brutalizing him backstage. Kurt Angle then appeared in the middle of Strowman’s segment and announced that Roman Reigns will be fighting his attacker, Braun Strowman at Payback.
In case you didn’t know...
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Just last week, Braun Strowman attacked Roman Reigns while he was being interviewed about his victory over The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33, crushing Reigns with production equipment.
Not only did Strowman beat the living daylight out of Reigns, when the Emergency Medical Technicians tried to wheel him away, Strowman flipped his stretcher and when they put him in an ambulance, the former Wyatt family member flipped the ambulance over with Reigns still inside it.
The heart of the matter:
Strowman vs. Reigns was bound to happen the moment Reigns was attacked and the setup for the Payback match is very apt as The “Big Dog” is now looking to get payback on his assailant. It was reported that Reigns suffered a storyline “injury” during the assault including a separated shoulder, a few cracked ribs and other random internal injuries.
What’s next?
Braun Strowman has declared himself as a “Monster among Men” and is looking to destroy everyone in the roster while Roman Reigns calls himself the “Big Dog” after beating the Deadman himself, The Undertaker. Both these Superstars seem to be securing their place at the top of the RAW roster currently and it will be interesting to see which of the two superstars will come out on top eventually.
Author’s take
WWE seems to be pushing Reigns as hard as they can and his victory over The Undertaker is the perfect example of this. Strowman’s sudden push came as a surprise to many but the match should be entertaining nonetheless.
