What's the story?
Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns might be in different programs right now in WWE but their dance partners for No Mercy didn't make it to Raw in San Jose. Therefore, the two Superstars tangled after Raw went off the air in a street fight.
In case you didn't know...
The Monster Among Men and The Big Dog are no stranger to each other. They're also no stranger to brutal gimmick matches.
These two have done battle many times in the past and made several towns with the same working formula. They perform well against each other and are very comfortable in the ring together.
After Raw goes off the air, the live crowd is sometimes treated to a special "dark match" before the crowd goes home, the ring crew breaks down the stage, and WWE heads off to the next town.
San Jose received a pretty special treat for those who stuck around after Raw went off the air this week.
The heart of the matter
Roman Reigns' spear is pretty destructive. There have been a number of WWE Superstars to utilize the same move in the past, but nobody yells at the ceiling like The Big dog before he does the move.
Braun and Roman fought hard after Raw went off the air. There were plenty of toys added to the equation as well. The match got a little out of hand, but that's what street fights are all about.
As you can see from the clip below, the closing moments of the encounter got pretty intense. Roman Reigns speared Braun Strowman through the table and pinned him to pick up the victory.
What's next?
Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns might have tangled in San Jose, but when WWE rolls into Los Angeles for No Mercy they'll have different tasks at hand.
Roman Reigns is seeking retribution and validation by beating John Cena and Braun Strowman is vying for Brock Lesnar's Universal Championship. But as time goes on there will always be room on the card for Strowman vs Roman.
Author's take
Those two had some great matches during their long program with each other. Seeing how both of these guys have incredible futures ahead of them, it stands to reason they'll eventually get back to fighting each other.
This dark match was a pretty cool bonus for the fans in attendance for Raw this week. It just goes to show you should never leave the arena until you're totally sure the show is actually over.
