What's the story?
Brock Lesnar defended the Universal Championship at a WWE Live Event in Winnipeg, Canada on September 30, 2017. In a surprising turn of events, the Beast Incarnate put Monday Night Raw's most coveted prize on the line against Sheamus — who hasn't been in the running for a singles championship.
In case you didn't know...
During his last appearance on WWE programming, Brock Lesnar defeated Braun Strowman at No Mercy with a single F5. Since he only has a limited number of dates on his WWE contract, the Beast Incarnate is only expected to make his next appearance after the TLC pay-per-view.
The heart of the matter
Just like Lesnar's matches against Samoa Joe and Braun Strowman, this one ended with a single F5. According to a report from Cageside Seats, the former UFC Heavyweight Champion is expected to win all his matches until WrestleMania with a single F5 to make Roman Reigns' eventual coronation look more impressive.
What's next?
Even though Brock Lesnar hasn't been advertised for Survivor Series, he is expected to make an appearance at the final Raw before WWE's November extravaganza. As things stand, he will not defend the Universal Championship on pay-per-view until the Royal Rumble.
Author's take
Brock Lesnar is one of WWE's two biggest draws, and he is one of the last larger-than-life characters left in professional wrestling. The 40-year-old's title defences genuinely feel special, and there is no question that Roman Reigns isn't the right person to end his Universal Championship reign.
