What's the story?
Anyone watching the AEW Rally where Chris Jericho made a surprise appearance (he does that a lot) and announced that he was 'All In' for All Elite Wrestling may have been wondering where that leaves him and his life-long wrestling home, WWE. It now seems that 'The Ayatollah of Rock and Roll' is done with Vince McMahon.
In case you didn't know...
Chris Jericho was initially linked with the Khan's and 'The Elite' when rumors of the group starting a new promotion surfaced, however, these were rumours that Jericho stringently denied.
Jericho worked with 'The Elite' for his NJPW debut, wrestling Kenny Omega at Wrestle Kingdom 12. He would also make an appearance at 'All In' despite not being booked for a match, attacking Omega after his match against Pentagon Jr.
The heart of the matter
But what of his status with WWE? Well, as of yesterday Jericho was still listed as an active member of the SmackDown Live roster, but as several people have pointed out following the AEW rally, he has now been removed and added to the list of WWE alumni.
It really does feel weird to see Chris Jericho officially in the alumni section knowing it's unlikely he'll be back anytime soon as he's signed a deal with a rival company. But that's Chris Jericho, he does what he wants.
What's next?
Jericho will likely play a pivotal role at AEW in putting over a majority of the younger talent and using his experience to help the promotion and the talent grow. He might even go on to become the first ever All Elite Wrestling Champion and have bangers with Pac and 'Hangman' Page.
And I can't wait for the All Elite Wrestling themed Jericho Cruise 2!
