What's the story?
Chris Jericho recently appeared on Barstool Sports' 'From the Top Rope' podcast, where he spoke about having to put Shane McMahon in his place at the 2016 Survivor Series.
In case you didn't know...
Chris Jericho is a legend in the wrestling business, a 27-year veteran who still manages to seem like a relevant and fresh competitor whenever he chooses to return. His 2016/17 run was arguably one of the best of his career, and his friendship and eventual WrestleMania feud with Kevin Owens was consistently the highlight of RAW.

Jericho represented the flagship show during the 5-on-5 traditional elimination match at the 2016 Survivor Series, alongside Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Braun Strowman and Owens. The RAW side took on the SmackDown quintet of AJ Styles, Dean Ambrose, Randy Orton, Bray Wyatt and Shane McMahon, with the blue team coming out on top.
During that match, Shane McMahon famously hit Chris Jericho with a number of stiff punches, which led to Jericho stiffing Shane with a fierce dropkick in return. Y2J spoke about the incident on the podcast.
The heart of the matter
Jericho told the hosts that he initially went to lock up with Shane, who for reasons undefined, decided to punch Jericho in the face. The record nine-time Intercontinental Champion shrugged it off and tried again, only for Shane-O Mac to once again land a potato square in Jericho's grid.
Y2J headed outside at this point to let off some steam, before heading back into the ring straight into another Shane McMahon stiff special. Jericho had had enough and hit Shane with a stiff kick to the chest before hitting a brutal missile dropkick to the face, letting Shane know that the time to calm down was now.
Jericho wrapped up the podcast segment by saying that Shane is extremely excitable in the ring, before wishing Kevin Owens the best of luck in his forthcoming feud.
What's next?
Jericho is about to head out on tour with Fozzy, meaning another WWE return is unlikely to happen anytime soon.
Shane McMahon is currently feuding with Jericho's former best friend Kevin Owens, with a match between the two likely to take place at Hell in a Cell.
Author's take
The Twitter clip of Jericho talking over the footage of the incident is fantastic, and it really shines a light on Shane's lack of subtlety in the ring. I have no desire to see Shane McMahon wrestle in 2017, but if the feud with Owens means a bigger spotlight for KO, then so be it.
