What’s the story?
During the latest edition of the Talk is Jericho podcast, former WWE World Champion Chris Jericho revealed the reason for why he isn’t excited to go back to WWE in order to work another Wrestlemania.
In case you didn’t know…
Former 9-time Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho recently made history with fellow Canadian wrestler Kenny Omega after the two men faced off against each other in a brutal no disqualification match at this year’s Wrestle Kingdom 12 event. The two men battled each other in a brutal match for the IWGP US Heavyweight Championship as Kenny Omega came out on top after a 36-minute war against his fellow Winnipeg native.
The heart of the matter
On the latest episode of Talk is Jericho, Y2J claimed that at this point of his career he only has plans of pursuing things that interest him the most, and the idea of this Alpha vs Omega match is something which has been very interesting to Jericho from the very beginning.
“The Ayatollah of Rock ‘n’ Rolla” claimed that he can indeed go back to WWE for yet another Wrestlemania but he knows of the fact that he will not be a part of the main event and will be demoted to the middle of the card instead.
Y2J also believes that if he is not facing off against the likes of Braun Strowman or Brock Lesnar, then he will most likely be squaring up with a superstar with whom he has worked a thousand times before already and according to the Fozzy frontman facing off against someone like Kenny Omega at the top a Wrestle Kingdom card is the most exciting thing he can think off right now.
What’s next?
Following his gruesome loss to Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho decided to attack Los Ingobernables de Japon leader Tetsuya Naito at this year’s New Year’s Dash event and it seems like the seeds to a Naito vs Jericho match have now been planted, and the two men could square off against each other later this year.
Author’s Take
Chris Jericho is absolutely right regarding this topic, I do believe that upon his WWE return Jericho will be slotted to a mid-card feud against someone like Kevin Owens, whom Jericho has worked numerous times against in the past. On the other hand, wrestling against the likes of Jericho and Naito sounds like a much better option to me.
