What's the story?
Following his return to the WWE this week, Colin Delaney was interviewed at the backstage area by a WWE announcer and during the interview, Delaney reacted to his return to the company for the first time in decades.
In case you didn't know...
Colin Delaney first made his WWE debut back in 2007 as a jobber and was seen wrestling on WWE's ECW brand. During his ECW run, Delaney was beaten by the likes of Shelton Benjamin, Big Daddy V, and Mark Henry. The 31-year-old was then drafted to Smackdown and made his Smackdown debut. However, he continued to pick up constant losses to the likes of Kane, The Great Khali, The Miz and much more.

Delaney would eventually pick up his first win in the WWE in an episode of ECW when he teamed up with ECW legend Tommy Dreamer to defeat the team of The Miz and John Morrison. In July of 2008, Delaney turned heel by costing Dreamer a shot at the ECW Championship, however, later that year Delaney was released of his WWE contract due to budget cuts.
The heart of the matter
During this week's episode of Smackdown Live, the newly repackaged team of Harper and Rowan-- collectively known as The Bludgeon Brothers defeated the duo of Colin Delaney and Joe Monroe in a squash match. Following his devastating defeat, Delaney was interviewed in the backstage area where he was asked to reveal his thoughts regarding his return to WWE.
Delaney stated in the interview that his return was more of the same and claimed that every time he steps into a WWE ring it's mostly against the biggest and the baddest wrestlers of the company and the outcome always seems to be the same for him.
The former AIW Absolute Champion was then asked about his whereabouts and his career outside of WWE, to which Delaney replied it has been almost 10 years since he stepped into a WWE ring and also recalled his time in ECW, where he was wrestling the likes of Mark Henry, Kane and others.
The 31-year-old additionally said that he has been trying to get big in terms of his shape and size and tonight was really more about the first step of Colin Delaney's big return to the WWE. Delaney ended the interview by showing his gratitude towards the WWE Universe and also claimed that this will not be the last time the WWE Universe will see Colin Delaney in action for the WWE.
What's next?
It is safe to assume that Colin Delaney's return to the WWE was just a one-off thing and chances are that the former ECW superstar will return to the Indies, where he has been wrestling for promotions such as Alpha-1, International Wrestling Cartel and more.
Author's Take
It was definitely a feel-good moment to see Delaney make his return to the WWE but I think WWE will not re-sign the former NWA Empire Heavyweight Champion on a permanent basis after all.
