Bryan asserted that his intentions are genuinely for the betterment of the WWE Universe. On the other hand, Shane McMahon concurred, and expressed his excitement for Clash Of Champions.
In case you didn’t know…
The vast majority of professional wrestling experts believe that Daniel Bryan is set to turn heel and betray Shane McMahon very soon. Tensions between Bryan and Shane O’Mac have been simmering one SmackDown Live over the past few weeks; dating back to before the Survivor Series PPV.
The WWE recently confirmed that both Bryan and McMahon will serve as special guest referees in Owens & Zayn’s upcoming Tag Team Match at Clash Of Champions.
The heart of the matter
SmackDown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan has been supporting the blue brand’s key heels/villains Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn as of late, much to the chagrin of SmackDown Live Commissioner Shane McMahon.
That in turn has led many fans to question Bryan’s loyalty towards the SmackDown brand and his friend Shane. Bryan addressed the same in his Tweet; stating that his loyalty is towards protecting the future of SmackDown Live for the WWE Universe—something that both he and Shane O’Mac agree on.
Furthermore, McMahon opined that he indeed agrees with Bryan, as in they both want to protect the future of SmackDown Live. Additionally, McMahon also reiterated his excitement for the Clash Of Champions PPV this weekend.
What’s next?
The WWE’s upcoming SmackDown brand-exclusive Clash Of Champions PPV goes down at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts on December 17th.
One of the marquee matchups on the card will be Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn vs. Randy Orton & Shinsuke Nakamura—with the stipulation that if Owens & Zayn lose, they’ll be fired from all of WWE. Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon will serve as Special Guest Referees in the aforementioned matchup.

The tension between Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon is palpable.
And that, folks, is awesome. The WWE has done a tremendous job in building up Bryan’s slow heel turn, which can be expected to reach a crescendo at Clash Of Champions. It’ll be real interesting to see how things play out this weekend.
