What’s the story?
SmackDown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan was recently a guest on the latest edition of The Gorilla Position podcast, where he spoke about a one-off in-ring appearance at WrestleMania 34 and facing The Miz.
The initiator of the Yes Movement spoke with passion about returning to the ring but also mentioned his reservations about having The A-Lister as his WrestleMania opponent.

In case you didn’t know...
The animosity between the two was taken to new heights on the August 23rd, 2016 edition of Talking Smack when The Miz went off on Bryan for calling him a coward. He asserted that it was indeed Bryan who was a coward, as he let his fans down by not returning to the ring even after promising to do so.
The A-Lister further insisted that Bryan should quit WWE and return to the Indy scene if he truly loves wrestling. Since then, The Miz spared no chance to mock the General Manager and even stole some of the moves off his arsenal.
In case you missed it, here is the video of the heated debate:
The heart of the matter
When asked about wrestling at WrestleMania 34, Bryan said that he would love to, as long as the WWE allows him to compete. However, he brushed off The Miz as a potential opponent. Here is what he had to say:
Uh, yeah, although- I don't know if I'd really want to go against The Miz. Okay, just look at the people around here, you got Nakamura over there. AJ Styles. Ya know, ya got, all the different people, ya know? So, yeah, great story and that might be the match that people would most want to see because they'd love to see me punch him in the face, I'd love to punch him in the face, but they don't let me punch people in the face anymore. It's not my deal anymore.
What’s next?
Wrestling pundit Dave Meltzer had previously suggested that by tweaking his style a bit, Daniel Bryan could lower the risk of injury and still have interesting matches. However, with WWE reluctant to let him compete, the chances of him making it to Wrestlemania 34 do seem bleak.
Author’s take
While we would love to see Daniel Bryan go at it once again at the Show of Shows, we do not necessarily agree with his choice of opponent.
With the events that have unfolded between the two Superstars in the past few months, The Miz is the perfect opponent for him. It would provide closure to the tension between the Superstars and more so, who would hate Bryan for burying The Miz with those Yes Kicks!!
