What's the story?
Heading into September 2018, there was a lot of tension and speculation about Daniel Bryan, as his contract expired around that period. He did eventually sign another contract, but we really didn't know much details about it.
However, on the latest episode of Total Bellas, Bryan revealed his contract length.
In case you didn't know...
Daniel Bryan's contract in WWE expired in September 2018. Had he not already been cleared to wrestle early in the year, Bryan himself confirmed that he wouldn't re-sign. However, things would take a turn for the better and Daniel Bryan finally got cleared.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Since then, he's been having a very interesting run. While some felt he got off to a rough start, he would eventually become WWE Champion, turning heel in a move that nobody saw coming. Since then, he's had an impressive run, showing a new side of his character that fans never really got to see before.
Granted, the rule of him being cleared was that after every match, he needs to see the doctor to ensure that he's alright. So far, things have been good.
The heart of the matter
On Total Bellas, Daniel Bryan revealed to Brie Bella that his contract length is 3 years. This means that he will officially be under the WWE umbrella until September 2021.
In the same context, Brie Bella also tried to get Bryan to hire a manager, but he wasn't having any of it. It's interesting that Bryan chose to sign a 3-year contract rather than one or even two, because if he faces another such accident again, he won't be cleared and he'll be stuck with WWE, whether outside doctors clear him or not.
It seems like a gamble, but Bryan seems to trust the process, and he's even adjusted his wrestling style in a way that he won't have to dish out the same level of intensity.
