WWE News: Drew McIntyre gives honest opinion on his relationship with Dolph Ziggler

What's the story?

While recently speaking with Planeta Wrestling, former WWE Intercontinental Champion, Drew McIntyre weighed in his honest opinions on his former tag team partner Dolph Ziggler and his relationship with 'The Showoff'.

In case you didn't know...

After making his return to the WWE in 2017, Drew McIntyre established himself as one of the biggest powerhouse superstars of NXT. He won the NXT Championship during his time in WWE's developmental brand and in the process, became the first ever superstar in WWE history to initially win a championship on the main roster and then go on to win the NXT Title.

Following a very successful run in NXT, McIntyre was eventually called up to the main roster in 2018 and immediately aligned himself with former WWE IC Champion, Dolph Ziggler.

Ziggler and McIntyre pretty much dominated the entire Raw roster with their heel-ish antics, which not only helped Ziggler win the Intercontinental Championship but within the next few months, the duo won the Raw Tag Team Championships as well.

The heart of the matter

In his interview with Planeta Wrestling, Drew McIntyre was brutally honest about his relationship with Dolph Ziggler, stating that the former WWE World Champion certainly did take advantage of his alliance with 'The Scottish Psychopath', winning the Intercontinental Championship in McIntyre's supremacy.

Further, McIntyre also stated that he single-handedly won the Raw Tag Team Championship for himself and on Ziggler's behalf as well, making 'The Showoff' relevant once again and that too for the first time in the latter's career. (H/T: Wrestling Inc)

"Dolph certainly took advantage of the alliance, since I won him the [Intercontinental] Championship, and I single-handedly won the Tag Team Titles, and made him relevant again - for the first time in his entire career. So I think it's the other way around, Dolph took advantage of me. But he brought me in to RAW, we were a formidable duo, and now that I'm on my own, I'm about to fulfill my destiny. Get my hands on that Universal Championship. But first, I've got to win that Royal Rumble."

Drew McIntyre will be taking part in the upcoming Royal Rumble pay-per-view later this weekend and will look to outlast 29 other stars in order to book his ticket to the main event of WrestleMania and eventually win his first WWE World Championship.
